Biography

About the Author

Donny Bailey Seagraves is a native of Athens, Georgia and lives in the nearby small town of Winterville, Georgiadonnytiny437, population 1,200, with her husband Phillip and their cat, Casey. The Seagraves are parents to grown twins, Jenny and Greg.

Donny studied journalism at the University of Georgia and has been a freelance writer for many  years. Her writing, including fiction and nonfiction, has appeared in many regional and national publications including Athens Magazine, where she was a frequent contributor and bookshelf columnist and reviewer for several years, and the Chicago Tribune. Her professional affiliations include the Authors Guild and SCBWI, Southern Breeze Region. 

For the past ten years, Donny has owned and operated Junebug Books, an online used and collectible book business. In 2009, Delacorte Press, an imprint of Random House, published Donny's first novel, Gone From These Woods, for ages eight and up.

Donny has presented at writers' conferences, including the popular Harriette Austin Writers Conference in Athens, Georgia, and at Book Festivals and Trade Shows, including The Southern Festival of Books, The AJC Decatur Book Festival, and SIBA, plus schools including Barrow Elementary and Oconee County Middle School. She enjoys speaking to children and adults and is available to teach writing workshops.
